Emeritus Professor, Tainan National University of the Arts
Earning her PhD in Arts from New York University, U.S., Ava Pao-Shia HSUEH is now an emeritus professor at Tainan National University of the Arts. She used to be the director of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts; the CEO of the National Cultural and Arts Foundation; and the provost, the dean of the College of Visual Arts, the director of the Center for International Exchange, as well as the director and professor of the Doctoral Program in Art Creation and Theory, Tainan National University of the Arts. She has long been employing abstract vocabulary as the expressive form of her artistic creation. Her oeuvre not only exhibits hybridized realities with both detached and passionate abstract symbols, but also explores the nature of contemporary abstract art in response to the changing times. Her works have been exhibited in Taiwan, China, the United States, France, Italy, South Korea, and Japan.
